i want to introduce an amazing new phrase into your lexicon: i don’t care.

it’s great! use it when people are debating about something and you don’t trust either one of them and don’t have the time or resources to study the topic and corn your own opinion. for example: your mother and sister are discussing the Depp scandal where they both accused each other of domestic abuse. You don’t know either of the people in question, were not at their house when the alleged altercations took place, and there are no reliable sources that prove without doubt what happened. What do you say? Easy! “I don’t care.”

your mutual alleges that a semi-popular blogger (who you don’t follow) is problematic and the punishment should be cancellation. your mutual’s proof are some screenshots. you don’t have the time or the resources to determine if these are real, faked, or taken so far out of context they have lost all meaning. what do you say when your mutual tells you to delete all of your reblogs of popular mutual’s posts (which contain no problematic content)? that’s right! those three little words: “i don’t care”

Your coworkers are having a debate. The government of your country has issued a statement about the alleged actions of the government of a country that has been enemies of yours longer than you’ve been alive. You know better than to trust your government, but your coworkers have decided to be patriotic. Do you try to explain how propaganda works and risk sounding like a traitor to your country? Or do you betray your morals and blindly follow the leaders of your country? Nope, I tricked you with a false dilemma! Just say “I don’t care” and be done with it!
