Having been on twitter for .02 seconds while tumblr was down I’ve realised that actually twitter isn’t on a six year cultural lag. Rather, there’s always going to be a subset of internet users whose default mode of interacting online is honestly just Like That™ no matter how much time passes; they’ve merely migrated en masse someplace other than here like mice following the pied piper off a cliff, making tumblr look chill in comparison
