Weirdest shit is how now even the TERFs are mad at The Guardian because despite the paper spending years courting them with anti-trans articles, it was still not reactionary and transphobic enough for them and the mere existence of a few journalists there who don’t hate trans people is being perceived by TERFs as a fundamental betrayal. Maybe you shouldn’t court hate group based readership while pretending to be a socially liberal newspaper lol.
This is in the context of the fact the paper is collapsing because it turns out that focusing on an audience of rich blairites, twitter verifieds and terfs isn’t actually very financially sound and that presenting yourself as the newspaper of the left while relentlessly attacking leftist politics and trans people is just gonna make the left stop buying your papers. And it turns out the reactionary hate group they courted isn’t even sympathetic to them because they feel the paper wasn’t hateful enough and should’ve been more like the Daily Mail anyway, since hate groups, as it turns out, don’t believe in moderate hate.
